Set in 1930’s North East Brazil. The son of a small-time farmer, Diamantino Da Rocha, discovers his father’s body, assisinated on the orders of a rich neighbour. Left with no choice but to run away, the young boy is swept up by a gang of Canaceiros terrorizing the Sertão. Life is rough in this part of the world, and the big landowners’ violence leaves barely any room for legitimate justice. Having joined these rebels, Diamantino inevitably becomes entangled in their revolt and the bloody retaliation.
