At the end of the 1930s, in a small Provencal village, Yael and her little sister
Emilie are living life to the fullest, surrounded by their loving family.
Even though the adult world is of no interest to them, they do notice when they
hear their maternal grandfather call their father a “goy” or when their paternal
grandparents refuse to see them because their son has married a Jewish
woman.
Unfortunately, their lives are turned upside down when their mother dies and
their father remarries Ophelie a few months later. For the two children, this
silly woman could never replace their beloved mother.
