At first glance, it’s not obvious that Fleur and Christophe are made for each other. They work in the same office, one as an executive, the other as a temporary employee. Christophe leads a more or less happy life, orderly, comfortable, without surprises. Fleur is a young woman who seems satisfied just jumping from job to job. She’s laid-back, always on the move, never gets too involved, and doesn’t like following the rules.
Although they don’t seem to have much in common, Fleur and Christophe start something together, learn to understand each other, and make the compromises necessary for any long-term relationship, before they finally end up separating. When they pose the question “Are we made for a life together?”, they decide that the answer is no. They are convinced that they are too different. The separation will be painful and difficult.
Much later, Christophe has a chance encounter with Fleur, and soon comes to realize that she was never the lax young woman she pretended to be, but a future researcher: educated, intelligent, and as “conventional” as he is himself…
