Oscar Moulinet, a sound technician at Radio France, and his companion Edith have been seeing a veritable avalanche of appearances of, or references, to identical music-boxes: a little golden duck, with a compartment inside. The singer who first talked about her music box on the radio is found dead only days later. The day after her murder is announced, Edith is attacked at the home she shares with Oscar: the thief was looking for the duck music box, before Oscar disturbed him in returning home! The music box turns out to contain a magnetic tape that contains part of the final bequest of Emile Schmutz, a brilliant counterfeiter. However, other less scrupulous people are also seeking Schmutz’s will. The trail of music boxes, which leads across France, will turn out to be full of mysteries, surprises and murders…The adaptation of a radio serial by Jacques Tardi and Michel Bojut, from one of the masters of the “clear line.” Le Perroquet des Batignolles was broadcast on France Inter in 1997, from February to July, and was such a success that it was continued into a second season.
