Charlie Schlingo, born August 3, 1955, died June 17, 2007, was an author of bandes dessinées, a lyricist, a singer, a unclassifiable poet, and, above all, completely and utterly mad. He published early work in Hara Kiri and later went on to appear in many other venues.
But aside from his work, he was a personality far out of the ordinary: part tramp, part drunkard, part genius, and totally elusive. This book is not aimed only at the B.D. specialist or the Schlingo fan; it is above all the portrait of a poet, of a madman, of a divine hobo. A biography of an incredible life that moved between tragedy and farce on a huge scale: an extraordinary human destiny.
