Brunehilde commands a pack of wolves. It is the Middle Ages—a time of transition, when Christianity is spreading slowly, and bloodily, from village to village. Believed to be a witch, Brunehilde has to move constantly, always on the look-out for bandits, kidnappers, and wild animals, and even wary of ordinary people. When she she reaches the wooded valley in southwest France, she discovers a horrible scene: people are being murdered and mutilated in the woods, and the villagers are convinced that a demon or a werewolf is on the loose. When she discovers that she herself is the prime suspect, Brunehilde must quickly investigate all these deaths.
In the vein of “The Daughters of Salem” (by the same author and sold in three languages), this is a true medieval thriller about the lives and beliefs of our ancestors.
