This is winter in Japan and Mayuko is playing in front of her house. This foolhardy and disobedient little girl is bombing two statuettes with snowballs- Kitsune the fox and Tanuki the dog, two Japanese lucky charms. At bedtime, Mayuko is feeling feverish. At nightfall, Kitsune the fox gets into the house and enters the little girl’s room. Mayuko awakes with a start and asks for her mother. Kitsune offers to take her to her mother. Mayuko accepts with distrust, but her thirst convinces her to follow the fox. Suddenly, the house turns into a weird place, walls vanish. Kitsune is taking the little girl on a winding path through strange and exotic landscapes, where evil and sly fantastic creatures live.
