Monographie William Vance – Entretiens avec Patrick Gaumer

A great master of realistic comics, William Vance had, curiously, never been the subject of a proper monograph. Far from being an oversight, this was above all a long-term project. Based on a series of in-depth interviews conducted in Spain between 2014 and 2016, Patrick Gaumer looks back on his life and career. Sensitive and discreet, William Vance confides in us over the course of ten chapters.

Mister Prairie

Jonas Crow received a letter signed “R. Prairie”.
“R” for Rose…

Convinced that the woman with whom he has had so many adventures wants to see him again and shares his feelings, he shows up at her home in Eaden, a small town in Texas.

Unfortunately, it’s not her who has written the letter, but a rival who is also in love with Rose, and with whom Jonas will have his work cut out.

He does, however, undertake to take care of two funerals: a priest who died mysteriously, and an unborn child that his devout mother doesn’t want to keep. While the first should pose no problem, the second is likely to be more complicated. The notorious “Sister Oz”, fanatical representative of the League for the Suppression of Vice, has arrived in town.

In this seventh installment of the Undertaker saga, the most famous mortician in comics is confronted with a religious extremism from another time… But one that has never seemed so current.

Le Loup en slip et le mystère du P silencieux

In the forest, as we all know, there are little lizards, not very big ones, who lisp when everything sucks… And while we’re on the subject of little birds, there’s one in particular who’s grumbling his head off this morning. Grumo is fed up with the French language’s spelling exceptions. “And gnagnagna, this letter you have to write but you don’t pronounce it… and gnagnagna this one you have to write like this but pronounce it like that.” The little chickadee, who loves to grumble, nevertheless raises some pertinent questions about the words around us…

You can’t be serious about an album on spelling! Yes, we are! And what better companions than the Wolf in underpants and Paulette the Bear to understand the meanders of grammar and the evolution of words, just as the river meanders?

Les Indomptés

For Lucky Luke, it’s time to rest. One last mission and then peace and quiet… Or so he thinks, until a strong-willed little girl pulls a gun on him, shouting “Arms up, coyote!” Lucky Luke quickly takes charge of the situation and discovers that this little girl, Rose, lives alone with her brother, Casper, in an isolated cabin. Since their parents have disappeared. Lucky Luke decides to take them back to the sheriff in town… But he soon realizes that, until then, he’ll have to play “nanny” to these particularly boisterous children! A totally unexpected role for him…

Gentlemind – Tome 1 et 2

1950s New York: After Navit loses her partner and lover, she finds herself at the head of “Gentlemind,” a small men’s magazine for which she has big plans. But the accomplished businesswoman isn’t able to forget a young artist named Arch, as penniless as she was when they shared a studio in Brooklyn. She promises herself that she’ll find him, whatever it takes. Juan Diaz Canales and Teresa Valero recount 30 years in the life of a remarkable woman, from her Bohemian youth to her sudden success, and her decades-long search for her first love. A moving and tragic tale beautifully brought to life by the pencil and watercolors of Italian artist Antonio Lapone.

This integral collects volumes 1 & 2.

La Faim de l’histoire – Volume 1

Eating with Jesus and the Apostles, eating at the Woodstock festival, on the cotton plantations in Scarlett O’Hara’s time, or with the Aztecs in Mexico when the Conquistadors arrived… the whole of the world’s history unfolds on our plates, in an album that’s as funny as it is erudite.

Through the prism of gastronomy, we gain an extraordinary perspective on the destiny of our ancestors, their thoughts, their passions… From the most tragic periods to the most glorious centuries, what’s on everyone’s table tells the story of humanity’s adventure better than anyone else.

L’Héritage d’Émilie – Intégrale

We’re in Paris in the 1920s. Emilie, a young woman working as a dancer at the Moulin Rouge, receives an enigmatic letter from a solicitor. She learns with great surprise that she has inherited a castle in the Connemara in Ireland from a mysterious great uncle! But what lurks behind this ‘gift’ that’s come out of the blue? Emilie begins a fabulous journey through time, in Celtic lands that are said to be sacred.

Nos mondes perdus

1993, the theatrical release of “Jurassic Park” and total trauma for 13-year-old Marion Montaigne. Her fascination with these terrible reptiles from a forgotten age gave rise to an obsession with fossils, science in general and anatomical drawing… as well as a few existential anxieties. So to exorcise her demons, there’s nothing like the Montaigne method: in-depth research in books and museums, a wicked sense of humor and some hard-hitting questions. A dive into paleontology, the history of science and, ultimately, the history of history.

Marée rouge en mer Noire

As tensions between Khurania and Russia continue to escalate, Tanguy and Laverdure find themselves caught up in a geostrategic conundrum involving a revolutionary aircraft. The two pilots do everything in their power to prevent the situation from escalating into conflict. But a corrupt Khuranian industrialist, the CIA and the Russian army are major adversaries… Pressure worthy of a hydraulic jack in the continuation and conclusion of this diptych, which echoes the terrible news of the war in Ukraine, still with scriptwriters Patrice Buendia and Frédéric Zumbiehl, and illustrator Sébastien Philippe.
