Upon his father’s death, Ted Voss inherits a set of mysterious documents, all written in code and stamped with a strange emblem. When he starts inquiring into their origin, he sets off a ferocious reaction from an organization that’s willing to go to any lengths to keep him from the truth. But Voss is a hard man to intimidate, and he pursues his investigations — despite the repeated attempts on his life.

The result: Voss learns that his ancestors were members of the ‘Lincoln Division,’ the first American secret service. Today, the division no longer exists. But a group of field agents is still in operation, dedicated to protecting the secrets of the past — especially the troubling role played by the Lincoln Division during the Second World War.
