The American South, in the 1920s. Gordon Devries has done so well in developing his business affairs — liquor smuggling, private clubs, etc. — that he’s become the most powerful man in New Orleans. But Devries is playing a dangerous game: When an independent gang decides to attack a convoy transporting bourbon for Devries, they discover that the crates conceal something other than moonshine. As it turns out, they contain decomposing corpses!!

This nasty business seems to be linked to a certain Cortes, a suspicious character with occult powers, who practices necromancy.
