On March 24, 1923, Régine Renchon and Georges Simenon were declared husband and wife, first by the parish priest of Sainte-Véronique church and then by the Communist alderman of the good city of Liège.
With the blessing and participation of John Simenon, Georges’ son, José-Louis Bocquet and Jean-Luc Fromental evoke this fabulous couple and the rocky road that led Simenon to create his famous Maigret.
Jacques Loustal, who has been illustrating the master’s works for many years, deploys his full palette for this portrait of a festive Paris, the playground of a loving duo driven by joie de vivre and the fury to create.
