Cerise is a little girl like any other. She plays games, draws pictures, pulls pranks, goes to school, and does her homework, just as all children do. She lives with her mother, and with Adrian, her mother’s boyfriend. There are also two cats in the house: Smokey (not too bright) and Bobo (too clever for his own good).
Yes, Cerise is a little girl like any other – except for one detail: Cerise can talk to animals! Cerise loves animals, you see. And when a boy at school decides it would be fun to crush a snail, Cerise vents wrath on him. Then she tries to save the poor little creature. But, alas, it’s too late: the snail can’t survive its rough treatment by the little boy. Before dying, it passes on to Cerise a superpower that will fill her life with adventures! That is – unless it’s all in her head…
