The USSR has fallen, and everything it stands for along with it. The rich and
powerful are now fighting over the land and immense wealth that remains.
Amidst the ruins of a nation, Slava and Lavrine, two childhood friends, make a
living from diverse kinds of trafficking. Slava, a book-lover and former philosophy
student, is having a hard time finding his place in this mercenary era. But
for Lavrine, a talented businessman and con artist, this lawless world devoid
of morals is a godsend.
Stranded in the Caucasian mountains after a deal that went wrong, the two
friends are picked up by the beautiful Nina, her father Volodia and their comrades.
They do what they can to survive in this isolated valley, but an avaricious
old oligarch, renowned for his brutality, has his eye on the mine they
work for. If he takes it on, the miners will lose their jobs. They could fight and
stand up to this powerful man and his militia, but they would be risking their
lives in vain. On the other hand, they could listen to Lavrine, who might just
have an idea for a little racket that could win back the workers what’s rightfully
theirs.
It’s like the Wild West, but Eastern style.
