London, 1963, amid the Pop Revolution and the Cold War. The Profumo Affair, a sex scandal, will cause an enormous storm and have severe repercussions. Christine Keeler, a young topless dancer in a cabaret club reveals that at the age of 19 she was the mistress of John Profumo, Minister of War in the Macmillan government. To make matters even worse, at the same time she was apparently having an affair with a Russian diplomat, suspected of being a spy. Since Profumo held strategic secrets, the affair was almost considered treachery. The affair exposed the depraved morals of a part of the British Establishment at that time and turned a lot of the press and the public against them.
