After his graduation, he works in an animation studio for more than two years. At the same time he works as an illustrator and designer for various advertising agencies and magazines.
His encounter with script-writer Dorde Milosavljevic marks the beginning of their cooperation on the historical series “Kalokagathia” (two albums published). Milan Jovanovic is awarded the prize for best young author at the Zajecar comic book fair in 1996.
His long-standing friendship with Darko Macan, an internationally renowned Croatian script-writer, leads to a five-volume series, “La Bête Noire” published by Novi Sad.
He takes part in the creation and editing of the cartoon magazine “Bager”, in 2001, and becomes a member of the editorial team.
