Stéphane Marchetti is a French director and author, born in 1978 in Lyon, France. In 2004, he created his own production company, Playprod, to film documentaries and reports with Alexis Monchovet, another director.
His documentaries, which focused primarily on today’s geopolitical issues, quickly earned him critical success. In fact, his documentary, “Rafah, chroniques d’une ville dans la bande de Gaza,” depicting the life of the inhabitants of Rafah on the Gaza strip, earned him the Albert-Londres prize in 2008.
In 2017, he directed with Thomas Dandois the film “Calais, les enfants de la jungle”, drawing on immigrant children’s testimonials. It was after this that he would venture into the comic book world with “9603 kilomètres” (Futuropolis) with Cyrille Pomès, dealing with the same themes as his previous documentary.
In 2023, he released his first full-length fiction film, “La Tête froide,” with Florence Loiret Caille in the leading role.
His career as a writer of graphic novels is not finished however: he is set to release “Sur le front de Corée” with illustrator Rafael Ortiz in October of 2024.
