When he submitted his drawings, the result of long years of work, to the editorial office of Spirou in 1991, he never thought that he would catch the attention of the editors immediately.
However, the editors encouraged him to start out by continuing the work on “Roi vert”, the comic strip adaptation of the eponymous novel by Paul-Loup Sulitzer, which had been interrupted by the death of its first illustrator, Jacques Armand.
He took a sabbatical year and drew “flat out” with childlike enthusiasm. Four volumes were to follow, with the graphics becoming more and more distinctive.
In 1995, Denis Lapière suggested that he draw a new series, “Luka”. The first volume, “C’est toujours une histoire de femme”, was published in the collection Repérages in 1996.
Mezzomo is an admirer of Giraud, the creator of “Blueberry”, who he grew up with
and who made him want to become a cartoonist, and also nurses a deep admiration
for Hergé and fondly remembers reading “Astérix”.
Very keen on television and cycling, this rather secretive artist lives in the east of France, where on Wednesdays he coaches an under-eleven … football team.
