The Vendée Globe is the biggest around the world boat race in a monohull. No one ever thought that there could be a more extreme race… That is until late December 2019, when a similar race using mutilhull boats, will set off from the French town of Brest. Considered by seasoned skippers the world over as the ultimate sailing challenge, the first edition of “Brest Oceans” will be a major milestone, the start of an exciting new sailing era!
Leading up to this new unique race, Alexandre Chenet and Renaud Garreta—both winners of prestigious sailing events—have followed Thomas Coville, one of the 6 challengers, for a number of months. In doing so, they look to delve into the mind-set of an “extreme sailor.”
