Albertus M’Natogo (Al Togo, for short) is French; Judith Van Ooveren is Dutch. They make up part of the Euro-Police, created by the European Union in the years following 2010. The goal of this new organization: to combat the problems which already exist in our time, but which will only get worse in the coming years. This Europe of the future is a kind of reflection of our own time. But perhaps Judith’s most thrilling investigation will be the one she must pursue into Al Togo’s past…Al Togo and Judith van Ooveren have absolutely nothing in common. He’s the son of an African family who immigrated to France; she’s the daughter of a bourgeois Dutch family, who, defying her parents’ wishes, chose the path of a police officer instead of a lawyer.
But now she finds herself falling for the charm of this young black man, who seems to be hiding a secret. The Euro-Police are not well-loved by the national police forces, who see this supra-national organization as taking over their prerogatives. No one ends up there but the kind of cops who relish being in extraordinary situations — like Al and Judith.
In this first album, they find themselves at the headquarters of the Euro-Police, located in Brussels. There they are confronted by their first investigation: a plunge into the world of politics, where a minister seems to have kidnapped his own daughter. It’s a chase of 297 kilometers. Now they just have to find the motive…
