A Japanese woman living in Italy regularly goes back to Japan and takes the opportunity to visit her former teacher. She promises the old lady she’ll be back to visit in the spring, when the cherry trees blossom. But an earthquake hits Japan on March 11, 2011. Keiko Ichiguchi offers us an intimate, semi‐biographical story, in which she delicately evokes the tragic events that struck Japan, her native land, and takes a close look at the anxiety and worry experienced by the Japanese community abroad during the aftermath of the disaster.
