It may not be easy for children to control their emotions, but it is essential. And it is the more so when you know those emotions generate devastatingly huge streams of electricity! Icarus, a young shepherd from Atlantis, makes this spectacular – but no less terrifying – discovery when Alec roughs him up for the umpteenth time. Lightning, sparks, you name it: Icarus can create electricity!
His grandmother tells him that people like him were once called “the chosen ones,” those who built the city of Atlantis. This was the energy that enabled them to erect magnificent buildings, pump water, heat their homes, and even travel to meet the other ocean communities. But this power attracted the covetousness of Neptune’s mysterious army. Rising up from the depths of the sea, his soldiers kidnapped them, and, in self-defense, they began to hide their energy, so well concealed that it eventually dried up.
Today, Atlanteans rely only on the strength of their arms. Icarus is stunned! He understands that he must hide his power at all costs, but the very next night, the army of shadows invades Atlantis and kidnaps young Lyssa. Icarus and Kalyo, Lyssa’s older sister, set off in search of her, discovering an underwater world whose mystery they may finally be able to unravel…
