Alcaeus, Zeus’ son, is considered to be the strongest man on earth. He is married to the beautiful Megara, and is the father of three children whom he loves. He has everything to be happy. However, the story of his birth haunts him; Zeus tricked his mother to seduce her, by one night taking on the appearance of her husband. Alcaeus dreams of freedom and revenge, but he has brought Zeus’ wife’s wrath upon himself, who wants to get rid of this unbidden illegitimate child… Obsessed by his ambition, Alcaeus slowly sinks into madness in spite of the presence of Megara, his brother, and Agrios the Centaur. Eventually, who knows if he’s not turning into the instrument of Hera’s glory? Intrigues, temptations, quarrels, misunderstandings, mistakes, love, fidelity, treachery… All the elements of a Greek tragedy in a story which is far from lacking in fantasy and humor, especially when it comes to wrathful, boastful, and sometimes childish gods!
The complete reprint of a two-part Work first published by Casterman (a one-shot in 1996 and a two-volume album in 2002)… and also 24 pages previously unpublished.
