Paris 1897, its monuments, walls, lights, popular dance halls… And its Apaches, young thieves, who haunt the streets and frighten honest citizens… The young and beautiful Amélie dreams of a different life from the tedious one her parents lived. She’s ready for adventure! Seduced by Matelot, a sailor, Amélie lives for a few months in sweet idleness, but when her lover starts showing signs of wanting an nice, normal life, Amélie chooses to leave him to follow Belle-Hélène. Both a mentor and a lover, independent and charismatic, Belle-Hélène teaches Amélie her profession: prostitution. And Amélie takes to it wonderfully. But unlike Belle-Hélène, Amélie remains susceptible to men. When she is assaulted by a client, she’s rescued by the gentleman Bouchon. She soon abandons her Madame for the sake of her savior. At first her time with Bouchon is nice, but he soon becomes demanding. Without the intervention of the Apache Manda, perhaps she would have succumbed to his violence. But instead she falls madly in love with this mysterious new character on the scene…
