Minik is the story of civilisation in progress. When, in 1898, the explorer Peary returns from Antarctica, he is not alone – he brings with him a family of Inuits, among whom is the young Minik. But the scientific attraction is short-lived because one by one the Inuits die from illness leaving Minik an orphan and alone in New York. It is moreover the story of a child confronted by the bulldozer of machine-driven and individualist society. It is the story of a human drama, as beautiful and sad as a work of Dickens. It is a true story.
