The story is set in the United States of the 1930s, and tells of the journeys of a white teenage boy, Huck Finn, and a young black man, Charley. United by a secret, the pair will flee their hometown to live the bohemian life for four years in the American South. There they will become “hoboes,” discovering the “real” United States in the midst of the Great Depression. Charley, a lover of jazz, will even achieve acclaim as a musician. But this is also the story of his downfall: drugs and excess of all kinds. It seems he signed a pact with the Devil — and frequented the town of Crossroads, “where all paths cross…”
