In a country located very close to the sun, Jiři (a lanky beanpole of a philosopher) and his buddy Pôlka (a pragmatic fox) desperately wait for rain. Unfortunately for our two thirsty friends, overwhelmed by the glaring sun, there is no cloud in sight in the mercilessly blue sky…They make a decision – to set out in search of an oasis! Many references jump out at the reader of this comic. Among them: “Pantagruel” by Rabelais, “unquenchable thirst” and the “divine bottle,” a reference to wine… A pinch of Magritte as far as image (“this here is not a pipe”). A hint of burlesque “a la Chaplin/Tati”…and so on. This story oscillates between a burlesque fable and a poetic story. A sort of crossing the desert in search of lyricism. The “Taste of Coco” is the imaginary scent of our own wanderings.
