In charge of a medical NGO in the Caucasus in 1997, Christophe André’s life changed overnight when he was taken hostage and transferred, hooded, to an unknown destination. Thinking at first it was a robbery (he had on him the money to pay his staff the next day), he believed that his captors were planning to release him in exchange for a ransom. But Christophe André would end up living in captivity for over a hundred days, cut off from the rest of the world, not knowing if he would ever get out alive. Yet somehow, he miraculously managed to escape. Guy Delisle, the successful author of books inspired by his experiences of living abroad (Pyongyang, Shenzhen, Burma Chronicles, Chronicles of Jerusalem), met the protagonist who told him this incredible story narrating the daily life of a hostage.
