W.E.S.T.: Weird Enforcement Special Team. In the U.S.A, at the end of the 19th century, Morton Chapel, a formidable and mysterious adventurer and his team are recruited by the ex-Chief of Security for the President to investigate the events that risk plunging the country into chaos. W.E.S.T. is born! Fabien Nury and Xavier Dorison (the scriptwriter of the successful Troisième Testament) has concocted a thriller with the sense of a western that flirts with the fantastic and to which Christian Rossi brings his graphic virtuosity. A series that promises to be exceptional and which presents each story in diptych form. In the first few boards, the action starts in Paris with a spectacular and yet inexplicable train accident at Gare Montparnasse. Among the victims, a certain Studwater is found dead clutching a valuable briefcase. One detail: he did not die because of the accident. He was clearly executed in the wreckage of the train by a strange character that was after whatever was in the briefcase intended for Adam Clayton, the Chief of Security for the President of the U.S.A. Vice-president Roosevelt is in a midle of a discussion with Clayton and President Mac Kinley. ‘The Affair’ is a scandal now, especially after the discovery of another corpse, Mr. Lennox, an influential person who blew his brains out after killing his wife and her maidservant… In both cases the same person seems to be pulling the strings but for reasons still unknown, which strongly worries Clayton. There has been some talk of conspiracy, of black magic, of unexplainable events, of madness that seizes those in high places… Clayton is the only one to really understand the true nature of the danger that threatens American society: chaos — pure and simple! He decides to give a call to an old friend, an adventurer with a mysterious past: Morton Chapel, and his shock team of his three henchmen who make up W.E.S.T.
