After the success of The Man Who Shot Lucky Luke, Mathieu Bonhomme is back with a new edition devoted to the most legendary cowboy in Franco-Belgian comic history!
While moseying around with his faithful steed Jolly Jumper, Lucky Luke is attacked by a bounty hunter. Barely escaping with his life, he learns that he’s wanted for murder and there’s a price on his head! He doesn’t have time to take in the news: three orphan girls have fled the family farm with a herd of cattle, hoping to start a new life, and now Lucky Luke has to come rescue them from a tricky situation. Though a bit macho, he’s still a gentleman and he offers to escort them and keep them safe.
Under constant threat of an Indian attack or wranglers making off with the herd, plus the fact that the most famous gun in the West is hunted by a mysterious enemy, could it be that the greatest danger in fact comes from three pretty young, seemingly defenseless women with ulterior motives?
This comic, with stories within stories, is packed full of plot twists and references to movie westerns (including William A. Wellman’s Yellow Sky, starring Gregory Peck; The Last Wagon by Delmer Daves; and André de Toth’s Day of the Outlaw).
