Lao, a young boy, lives with his family in the Himalayas. One day a terrible avalanche wipes out his entire village. Lao is left all alone, lost in the mountains. He takes refuge in the first shelter he finds: a sort of little cave, where he feels warm and safe.
In the morning, he realizes that the ‘cave’ is really a yeti — a creature who has sheltered Lao with his own body. The yeti is named Chabala, and he offers to watch over Lao. Thanks to Chabala, Lao makes friends with Mirro, the giant bird, and Sheyen, the snow leopard. But when Mirro and Sheyen are captured by hunters who take them far away from the mountains, Chabala and Lao decide to go after their friends and set them free.
This series, meant for children age 4 and up, is also an ecological fable, and a haunting reminder of the dangers that threaten our planet.
