The Tour de France in 1910: 141 racers at the outset, only 40 at the
end, all of whom have lived through an experience both nightmarish and
unforgettable. The two favorites, Faber — alias “the Giant of
Colombes” — and Garrigou — alias “The Dandy” — wage a merciless
battle against one another. With no assistance, left practically to
themselves, these cyclists will conquer mountain passes in falling snow,
repair their bicycles alone, avoid the mud traps that the roads turn
into on rainy days, escape the nails thrown in their path by malicious
“fans,” finish 400-kilometer stages by night, and more!
This story revisits the incredible adventure that these men lived
through during this Tour de France, stage by stage, lingering, with
great lyricism, on the people themselves. Sumptuous visuals of great
elegance, by a creator who comes from the world of illustration.
